Former Open VLD MP Sihame El Kaouakibi will not return before the end of February. She has submitted a new sick note, reports VTM News, but that does mean that she falls back on 60 percent of her wages.

El Kaouakibi has been sitting as an independent in the Flemish Parliament since April after she had handed in her Open VLD party card after the fuss about the subsidy fraud she allegedly committed. But even as an independent, she did not appear in Brussels: she has been on sick leave since October 2020. And she will remain so until the end of February, according to the medical certificate she has submitted. As a result, she falls back on 60 percent of her salary as a Member of Parliament, which is 5,000 euros per month.
