Xinhua News Agency, Washington, June 6 (Reporter Yan Liang) A shooting incident occurred outside a theater in downtown Richmond, the capital of Virginia, on June 6, resulting in 2 deaths and 5 injuries. The incident occurred just after a graduation event at a high school in the state ended in a theater.
The shooting happened outside the Altria Theater in Richmond as students, relatives and friends streamed out of the Huguenot High School graduation ceremony. The gunshots caused panic, and hundreds of people fled in all directions. A 19-year-old suspect was arrested by police as he tried to leave the scene on foot and faces at least two counts of second-degree murder.
The cause of the suspect’s crime is still under investigation.
According to the latest data from the US “Gun Violence Archives” website, as of May 29, there have been 261 mass shootings in the US this year that resulted in at least four deaths and injuries.
