Teacher Samuel Paty recently screened cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed and has been threatened ever since. The attacker would therefore have killed him. The police have now arrested eleven other suspects, including the parents, grandfather and younger brother of the perpetrator.
The beheading has shocked France. Today tens of thousands of people went to various French cities into the street to demonstrate for freedom of speech. In Paris, mayor Hidalgo, Prime Minister Castex and Minister Blanquer of Education, among others, joined the actions.
