Shooter 4th of July parade US pleads guilty and risks life for seven murders | NOW

The man who opened fire on the public at a July 4 parade in the United States has pleaded guilty. The prosecutor has charged him with seven murders. Robert Crimo, 21, faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Crimo said in a first statement that he was also considering a second attack while he was on the run. Police say there is no evidence of an anti-Semitic or racist motive.

The death toll may still rise. Dozens were injured in the attack on July 4, a national holiday in the US. Crimo fired more than 70 bullets into the crowd from a rooftop.

He had been preparing for his act for weeks, according to the authorities. He was arrested hours later in women’s clothes that he was wearing to make it easier to escape, with make-up to cover his facial tattoos.

Crimo already came into contact with the police twice in 2019. In one of those cases, according to the police, he threatened to “kill everyone”. The weapons he used in the mass murder he had obtained legally.

The man is due to appear in court on July 28.
