Daihatsu gave a surprise on the first day of GIIAS 2022. They introduced the electric Daihatsu Ayla, even though it was only a concept car.
Like other four-wheel manufacturers, PT Daihatsu Astra Motor (ADM) has finally introduced their electric concept car. Surprisingly, the car that was electrocuted was Ayla’s ‘cheap car’, which was transformed into the Ayla EV.
This car is still a concept. Daihatsu did not give a definite answer whether the Ayla EV will enter the production line and when it will start selling it.

As stated by the Marketing Director of PT ADM Sri Agung Handayani to reporters at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
“This concept car (Ayla EV) is our own Research and Development (Daiahstu), that’s why we use a car that has been introduced for a long time, because we have been producing this car since 2013,” said Agung.

Agung added that the choice of Ayla to compete in the electric car competition was not without reason.
“So our research is deep and has been around for a long time. So we focus on vehicles that we know both technology, car infrastructure, manufacturing processes, everything we know, how to make this convertible EV,” Agung added.

Agung also explained that Daihatsu had started Ayla EV research since 2020.
“We actually started this research from the end of 2020, detailed development in 2021, but the design is 2022,” concluded Agung.
