The Ukrainian prime minister also discussed with the German minister joint economic projects in the field of renewable energy.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal during his visit to Germany on Friday, March 19, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Heiko Maas, informs press service of the Cabinet.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of Ukraine’s European integration, an action plan for NATO membership and joint economic projects in the field of renewable energy.

Shmyhal stressed that an agreement on the start of a strategic partnership with the EU in the field of critical raw materials is very important for Ukraine; they will also be coordinated with the goals of the “green” and digital transition.

“Cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy opens up new opportunities for cooperation between our countries. The EU hydrogen strategy notes that Ukraine has the potential to establish 10 GW of capacities for the production of” green “hydrogen. This allows us to attract 20 billion euros to the development of the industry. And we we are confident that together with Germany we can better realize this potential, “the prime minister said.

Shmyhal thanked the German side for support in granting Ukraine the status of a NATO partner with expanded capabilities. Further plans include joining the NATO Membership Action Plan.

In addition, the Ukrainian prime minister called on Germany to take part in the international platform for the de-occupation of Crimea, and also thanked Maas for the statement of the G7 foreign ministers on Donbass and Crimea.
