“Shining”: illustrated book from Taschen Verlag deals with the film by Stanley Kubrick

An abandoned hotel in the snowy mountains, gloomy corridors, forbidden rooms, a maze, plus a family man who is losing his mind: The horror film “Shining” has everything to achieve maximum effects with few resources. Stephen King wrote the book and Stanley Kubrick provided the cinema version in 1980. Even if King himself wasn’t happy with the result, the flick starring Jack Nicholson became a cult classic.

Taschen Verlag has released a three-volume set containing hundreds of unpublished photographs and original documents from the Kubrick archive, as well as in-depth interviews with the cast and crew. Even connoisseurs of the film should certainly learn something new.

“Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining”, Lee Unkrich and JW Rinzler, Box containing 2 volumes and an ephemera set with facsimile reproductions and original artwork books, 2198 pages, 1500 euros
