South Korea says that several bullets have been fired from North Korea at their border surveillance post. The South Korean military reports in a statement that two shots have been fired north after a warning.
South Korea says there have been no injuries. It is not clear why there would have been shot.
The incident happened a day after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un made his first three-week hiatus in public again had appeared. State television in the country broadcast images of Kim at the opening of a fertilizer factory.
There has been speculation about Kim Jong-un’s health for more than a week. This was mainly because he was absent on April 15 at the celebration of the 108th birthday of his grandfather Kim Il-sung.
