Lydia Chagoll passed away. She turned 89, and in all those years she never got under one heading. Ballerina and choreographer, writer and filmmaker until old age, a Jewish child who escaped the Nazis but ended up in the so-called ‘Japanese camps’. The latter marked her life, but did not determine it. “I have always refused to be a victim,” she said.
