The couple was on a car trip in a converted van, and had plans to be on the road from July to October. However, the fiancé returned home to their shared home in North Port, Florida, long before the planned end of the trip, alone, writes American media.
Video cameras captured Petito as she and her boyfriend checked out of a hotel in Salt Lake City on August 24. After this, the police believe that she has visited the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, writes CBS News.
But here all traces of the 22-year-old also stop.

– Do not know if it was her
Petito’s mother, Nicole Schmidt, tells the TV station WSFB that she normally talks to her daughter three times a week. At the end of August, the two had a video call, but since a text message on August 30, it has been completely quiet.
– Because it was a text message, I do not know for sure that it was her. I did not talk to her, says the mother of the TV station.
After twelve days without signs of life, the family chose to report the daughter missing last Saturday.
– The first couple of days I did not get a response, I thought she was in an area without coverage. It was on day eight or nine that I was really worried, she says CBS New York.
After the fiancé returned home, the police have seized the couple’s Ford Transit, and refer to the fiancé as a person of interest. However, he refuses to talk to the police.

– You have a person who has been in contact with the family regularly, and then it suddenly becomes quiet. And then the person she was on a trip home returns and she’s not there. That person is not willing to talk to us at this time. “All of this is very, very worrying,” North Port Police spokesman Josh Taylor told CBS New York.

Brian Laundrie has not commented on the fiancé’s disappearance, but on Tuesday, the family’s lawyer issued a statement:
– This is understandably an extremely difficult time for Petito’s family and for the Laundrie family. On the basis of advice, the Laundrie family will stay in the background of this case, and will not comment further, the statement said, according to CNBC.
Gabby’s father, Joe Petito, recently spoke about the case on a television program on CNBC. He calls the statement “four lines of rubbish.”
– There are four lines of rubbish, as I see it. You say that this is a very difficult time for you, when your child is safe at home? I do not know where mine is, and I can not ask questions about why, where, how, or where to start? sa faren.

He came at the same time with a clear call to his daughter’s fiancé to cooperate.
– We have questions. Maybe you have the answers, and maybe you do not have them, but there is only one way we can find out.
The Petito family also made a joint statement on the matter:
– Brian refuses to tell Gabby’s family where he last saw her. Brian also refuses to explain why he left Gabby all alone and drove her car to Florida. These are critical questions that require immediate answers.
Petito is originally from Long Island in New York, and the disappearance case is under investigation by local police there.
