One of the world’s most famous “sex symbols” has died. Sue Lyon became known after her as Lolita in Stanley Kubrick’s film of the same name. She had been in poor health for a long time.
Kubricks Lolita from 1962 is the film adaptation of the novel by Vladimir Nabokov. The story revolves around a middle-aged man who becomes obsessed with a twelve-year-old girl.
Lyon played in dozens of films and television productions, but her role in Lolita brought her the most fame. Reportedly, eight hundred girls auditioned for the film’s title role. Lyon said he had to appear 25 times for different auditing rounds.
The actress was married four times during her life. Her third marriage was with Cotton Adamson, convicted of manslaughter, who was detained during the marriage ceremony.
Lyon leaves a daughter from her second marriage.
