According to him New York Department of Health report, rates of primary and secondary syphilis – the stages during which syphilis is most infectious – increased 24% among women, but only 9% among men. In addition, gonorrhea rates increased by 5% among women, while in men they decreased by 19%. Other sexually transmitted diseases reported casualties, such as chlamydia. However, in this disease also men had fewer cases: the rate of chlamydia decreased by 29% among men, but in women only 23%.
