Several new PlayStation 5 details surfaced

On the one hand we know quite a lot about the PlayStation 5, but on the other hand we don’t really know at all. After all, many of the functionalities, features and other possibilities are still shrouded in mystery. Quite strange, because the console will appear in less than two months, but data miners now offer a solution.

On Reddit An overview has been published of PlayStation 5 references and features found in the source code of the PlayStation Store. These are quite interesting details and we have listed everything for convenience.

Backwards Compatibility

• When playing PS4 games on PS5, certain functionalities may not work.
• The PS5 firmware may not support certain PS4 games, this may change later with updates.
• The console has a boost mode with backwards compatibility.

Sharing

• “If the “Console Sharing and Offline Play” setting is enabled for your PS5, players aged 18+ who aren’t PS Now subscribers will be able to play PS Now games from the game’s shortcut icon (displayed on the PS5 home screen) as well as in the PS Now app.”
• The above: If you ignore PlayStation Now in this context, the suggestion arises that the primary and secondary designation of consoles as we know it from the PS4 will return, again enabling content sharing.

Cross-Gen party chat

• It is possible to send messages to the PS4 and PlayStation App, as well as vice versa.
• It is possible to voice chat with each other cross-gen.

Others

• PlayStation Plus saves in the cloud can be manually transferred to PlayStation Now and vice versa.
• It will be possible to download games from PlayStation Store to your PS5 (e.g. via the app, site, etc.).
• It is possible to create a wish list on the PS5.
• Parties allow up to 100 people.
• It is possible to change the name and image of parties.
• The PlayStation Store shows which games are in PlayStation Plus, Now and Collection.
• You can start something called ‘Takedown’, what it is is unclear.

None of the above details have been officially confirmed, but they are likely to be options on the console. This purely on the basis of a logical step forward or because it is an addition to existing functionalities.
