Several band members leave Mustasch | GP

The rock band released the news in a Facebook post on Saturday. Guitarist David Johannesson, drummer Robban Bäck and bassist Mats “Stam” Johansson are leaving the group to move on with other career opportunities, the band writes.

“We want to thank all our fans, friends and families for these years, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all the support. As of now, we have no further statements on the matter. Bowl!”

At the moment, the band only consists of frontman Ralf Gyllenhammar. It remains to be seen whether a new constellation will take shape in the future.

Formed in Gothenburg

Mats “Stam” Johansson has been in the band since its inception in Gothenburg in 1998, David Johannesson since 2008 and Robban Bäck since 2015.

The band has won several Grammys for their music and also participated in Melodifestivalen 2021 with the song “Contagious”. Something that led to debate as the singer Ralf Gyllenhammar had previously been convicted of sexual harassment.

Below the band’s post, the comments pour in. Many are saddened by the news, others wish the members luck. But some seem to think the decision is a good one.

“Yes, but it’s not a bad decision, is it? Instead of continuing to plod along and end up in a downward spiral like Metallica and many others,” writes a Facebook user.
