Seven tips for your late summer Saturday in and around Dresden

Dresden – Sun and clouds alternate, it a late summer weekend is expected, perfect for trips of all kinds! We have the best tips for it!

Waldfest
Dresden – You can watch “chip planing” or “sow sawing” on the Weißer Hirsch concert square.
The forest festival starts on Saturday at 2 p.m. and offers a falconer and dog breed show, horse riding, tree rope climbing, handicrafts, face painting, wild boar on a spit and handmade music.
In the evening the horn blowers perform, a campfire is lit and the children run a lantern parade. Free entry.

Green market & autumn fashion
Meissen – On Saturday, not only fresh products from the region, but also a wide range of spices are presented on the green market.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., there is autumn shopping fun in the courtyard of the Red School. From 7 p.m. the Meißner Modenacht invites you to get to know the current autumn and winter collections. Free entry.

Kite festival
Freital – The Pesterwitz Kite Festival is a bit stripped down, but no less colorful. At the weekend the kites will fly on the Drachenwiese (Freitaler Straße) from 12 noon.
On Saturday there will be a US cars exhibition from 12.30 p.m., the Dragi dragon mascot will be there. On Sunday from 2.30 p.m. the Freital city mascot will be added!
Admission: 1 euro for adults, otherwise free.

Small Elbhangfest
Dresden – The alternative date for the Elbhangfest was also canceled due to Corona. Nevertheless, “The small festival on the Elbhang” will take place this weekend.
Every weekend from 12 noon, wine is served at the Sauer, Decker, Rogge, Götze and Kahlert wineries, there is live music and exhibitions can be visited. At the old fire station in Loschwitz, various highlights such as breakdance, punk or a silent disco are offered.
Admission is free, a donation is requested.

Training fair
Pirna – In the vocational school center for technology and economics (Pillnitzer Straße 13) young people can find out about their future opportunities at the fair “Discover the world of work now” on Saturday.
Almost 140 exhibitors present their companies from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free entry.

Forest hike
Leipzig – A hike with forester Ralf Herrmann through the game reserve and the southern alluvial forest in Leipzig is all about “culinary delights from the forest”. Meet at the lynx enclosure on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Autumn stars
Dresden – In the Graupa observatory (Richard-Wagner-Straße 46 / access via Schönfelder Weg), visitors can look forward to an open observation evening on Saturday with a lecture on the subject of “Autumn starry sky”.
