Seven dramatic goals, Spurs comeback and 4-3 victory

Tottenham Hotspur won a dramatic victory at home Leeds United continuously Premier League. Coming from behind three times, Antonio Conte’s side eventually won 4-3.

Playing in London on Saturday (12/11/2022), Leeds took the lead three times thanks to goals from Crysencio Summerville (10′) and Rodrigo (43′, 76′), but Tottenham also managed to equalize with Harry Kane (26′) ‘), Ben Davies (51′) and Rodrigo Bentancur (81’).

Spurs finally won after Bentancur scored his second goal in the 83rd minute. Tyler Adams’ red card in the 87th minute made Leeds’ bad luck worse.

This result lifted Tottenham into third place provisional ranking with 29 points in 15 games. Meanwhile, Leeds are stuck in 14th place with 15 points from 14 games.

The course of the match

Leeds managed to surprise the host crowd by winning first in the 10th minute. Through a built attack from behind, Brenden Aaronson put a spin on Crysencio Summerville.

Despite being closely watched by Eric Dier, Summerville managed to squeeze into the penalty area and fired a shot which Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was unable to block. Leeds lead 1-0.

Tottenham sting and try to equalize. These efforts paid off in the 26th minute. The corner kick released by Ivan Perisic was hit successfully by Ilan Meslier, but the ball gag was controlled by Harry Kane.

Controlling the ball, the England striker fired a shot into the left corner of the Leeds goal without Meslier being able to clear it. The Leeds players protested as they felt Meslier had been fouled first, but the goal was still ruled.

It didn’t take long for Leeds to take the lead again in the 43rd minute. Coming from a corner kick situation, the ball that was swept out of the box was headed in again by Liam Cooper, then headed in again by Rasmus Kristensen towards the box.

The ball managed to lead to Rodrigo who successfully scored the second goal with a volley. The 2-1 lead for Leeds lasted until the break.

In the second half, Tottenham managed to equalize in the 51st minute. Ben Davies fired a long shot and hit first Rasmus Nissen and Meslier, then moved into the Leeds goal. The score was tight again, 2-2.

Tottenham tried to score a third but conceded again in the 76th minute. On the counterattack, Marc Roca immediately threw a long lure at Rodrigo who ran towards the penalty area.

Rodrigo’s left-footed shot managed to clear the right side of the Tottenham goal even though the ball had touched Lloris. Spurs players protested as they felt Rodrigo Bentancur had been fouled before the counter-attack could take place, but the referee remained unmoved.

Leeds’ lead lasted just five minutes. Bentancur managed to exploit a second ball in the penalty area in the 81st minute, then fired a volley at Leeds. The ball touched Luke Ayling first before going around Meslier.

Two minutes after the goal, Bentancur managed to give Tottenham the lead for the first time in this match. It all started with Dejan Kulusevski’s penetration into the penalty area from the right.

When just to face Meslier, Kulusevski skilfully crossed for Bentancur who was in a better position to shoot. Ayling tried to block him, but the Uruguayan midfielder’s kick managed to break through the Leeds goal.

Leeds found it increasingly difficult to recover after Tyler Adams was sent off in the 87th minute after tackling Yves Bissouma. The offense resulted in a second yellow card, as Adams already got his first in the 71st minute for a foul on Kulusevski.

The 4-3 score for Tottenham lasted until the end.
