Doctors could benefit from housing or money for rent if an independent senator’s bill is adopted.
Alfred Laurentiu Mihai he is the one who elaborated this draft normative act.
“This week I submitted to the Senate a bill that aims to reduce the migration of doctors from the Romanian health system. A phenomenon that has reached alarming levels.
More precisely, the provision of service housing or receiving an allowance for renting a house for this purpose for doctors “, the senator wrote on Facebook.
What the project entails
All doctors would benefit from this measure, including residents. The condition is that they work full time in a hospital.
“The doctor who did not own or does not own, individually or jointly, together with his / her spouse or children in maintenance a personal property in the locality where the public hospital in which he / she carries out his / her activity is located has the right to granting a fully serviced home equipped with furniture.
In the event that the doctor cannot be granted a service home, he has the right to benefit from one monthly allowance for renting a home in the locality where the public hospital where it carries out its activity has its headquarters “, it is shown in the draft law.
That home should be provided by the authority that manages the hospital – central or local, which would bear the costs out of pocket. In addition, the house would be in the village or at a maximum distance of 50 km.
The home would remain for the doctor or his family for life.
How much rent would be given to doctors
The one who does not receive the house will have an amount destined for renting an apartment, which is established as follows:
- – the amount of the monthly allowance cannot be higher than 80% of the average net salary per economy, if the doctor works in a hospital located at the level of a county seat municipality,
- – the amount of the monthly allowance cannot be higher than 70% of the average net salary per economy, if the doctor carries out his activity within a hospital located at the level of a municipality.
- – the amount of the monthly indemnity cannot be higher than 60% of the average net salary per economy, if the doctor carries out his activity within a hospital located in other localities than those previously provided.
Considering that the average net salary in the economy in June was 2,078 lei, the amounts established in the draft law would be the following: 1,662 lei, 1,454 lei, respectively 1,246 lei, ie between 300 and 377 euros.
And that means doctors could find homes to rent. For example, even half of this amount can be found in Bucharest.
The bill comes in the context in which Health employees have expressed countless times their dissatisfaction with pay and working conditions.
