Serjogin sets a personal record in the marathon in Vilnius

Latvian athletics long distance runner Dmitry Serjogin on Sunday with a new personal record won the Vilnius Marathon.

Livani completed the distance in two hours in 19 minutes and 49 seconds, correcting his result achieved in Valmiera last year by two minutes and 25 seconds.

Serjogin’s result achieved on Sunday is at the same time the fastest marathon race of this season among Latvian athletes. He climbed to 12th place in the list of the fastest marathon runners in the country.

The Lithuanian capital Serjogin is quite successful, because last year in Vilnius he set his personal record in a half marathon, covering one hour in five minutes and 13 seconds.

In the marathon on Sunday, second place winner Andrjus Jakševičjus lost six minutes and 11 seconds.

Diana Lobachevske, a participant in the previous two Olympic Games, won the women’s competition, finishing in two hours, 39 minutes and 40 seconds.

The fourth place in the half marathon was won by Jons Folkenands from Germany, representing the sports club “Tērauds”. The athlete studying in Riga corrected his personal record with one hour, 11 minutes and 32 seconds.
