Nigerian striker from Napoli Victor Osimhen was evacuated to hospital after a shock at the very end of the match Sunday in Bergamo against Atalanta (2-4) in Serie A, according to several Italian media.
Osimhen was very quickly evacuated on a stretcher in the 90th minute after his head hit the ground following a duel with a Bergamasque defender. Very shaken, the 22-year-old Nigerian striker was said to have briefly lost consciousness but had regained his senses during the journey to the hospital where he was to undergo check-ups, according to Sky Sports, broadcaster of the meeting, and the Italian agency ANSA.
Complicated season for Osimhen
His club did not communicate, having decided not to speak to the press after a defeat that took him away from his priority objective: one of the first four places synonymous with qualification for the Champions League.
Star rookie last summer from Lille, Osimhen returned to the pitch at the end of January after more than two months of absence due to a shoulder injury and the coronavirus. The Nigerian, despite a promising start to the season, has so far only scored two goals for Napoli.
