“Serf” became the second in the history of Russian box office rental – Culture

MOSCOW, January 19. / TASS /. The film “The Serf”, which was released on December 26, raised more than 2.64 billion rubles in Russian cinemas, overtaking the remake of the film “The Lion King”, which collected 2.63 billion rubles in 2019. At the same time, the American picture is still ahead of the “Slave” in terms of the number of viewers in the Russian box office, as evidenced by preliminary data from the portal of the Unified Automated Information System (UAIS) about movie screenings published in cinemas website Fund movie.

According to the UAIS, the first place in box office in the history of domestic distribution is occupied by the Russian film “Upward Movement” directed by Anton Megerdichev, which raised about 2.9 billion rubles. The second and third places are occupied by the films “Serf” and “The Lion King”, respectively. Anthony and Joe Russo’s film “Avengers: Final” (2.5 billion) is in fourth place; Alexei Sidorov’s “T-34” (2.2 billion) military drama completes the top five.

The unified federal automated information system for showing films in cinema halls was created on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. The system collects, records and processes information on public screenings of films in Russian cinemas.
