Air Serbia, under pressure from public opinion, supported global sanctions and canceled flights to Russia because of its military actions in Ukraine.

“A few days earlier, the President of Serbia announced that Air Serbia, against the backdrop of Western sanctions against Russia and pressure from the European community, would halve the number of flights to the Russian Federation – from 15 to 7 per week,” the message says.
Nevertheless, while the EU countries closed their skies to Russian airlines, and European carriers stopped flying to Russia, Air Serbia, in the absence of competition, decided to multiply the offer of flights to Russia.

This behavior of the Serbs was met with a wave of criticism. Air Serbia has been accused of pursuing an unfair enrichment policy amid the suffering of millions of Ukrainian citizens.
“Serbia is the only one in Europe that has an open sky in relation to Russia. Making money on blood is not something that is worthy of an EU candidate country,” the CFTS quoted Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova as saying.
It is noted that as of now, it is impossible to purchase a ticket for the indicated direction on the website of the Serbian carrier.
