OSCE records about 1.5 thousand violations of the silence in Donbas

The organization claims to have heard a thousand shots and bursts of heavy machine guns.

In the area of the Joint Forces operation, observers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) recorded more than 1,500 ceasefire violations per day. This is stated in report The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM), unveiled on Wednesday 8 September.

According to the document, most violations of the “silence” regime were recorded in the Donetsk region – 1,090 violations, including one explosion in the air. Moreover, almost all of them occurred in the area of the village of Zernovoe.

Observers suggest that this is due to the exercises organized by the separatists. The OSCE claims to have heard a thousand shots and bursts of heavy machine guns, while exercises in this area are prohibited in accordance with the decision of the Trilateral Contact Group.

“Almost all ceasefire violations occurred in the area south-west of Zernovoe, according to estimates, as part of live-fire exercises in the security zone, in violation of the decision of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) of March 3, 2016, prohibiting the conduct of live-fire exercises in the security zone, “the message says.

In addition, in the Luhansk region, the OSCE recorded 476 violations of the ceasefire, including 47 explosions. Of these, one explosion occurred in the air, and 46 were of undetermined origin.

All violations in the Luhansk region were recorded in the area of the breeding site near Zolote. In the village itself explosions were heard, and closer to Popasna – explosions, shooting from small arms and large-caliber machine guns.

As reported, on the eve of illegal armed groups fired at Ukrainian positions in the Donbass. Two soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were injured.
