Seoul rises 0.74% encouraged by relaxation in measures against the virus – Bayl.eu

Seoul, Oct 19 (EFE) .- The Seoul stock market rose today and its main indicator, the Kospi, gained 0.74% encouraged by the relief in the restrictions against the covid virus and the gains on Wall Street.

The South Korean benchmark rose 22.36 points on Tuesday to stand at 3,029.04 integers, while the Kosdaq technology index also advanced 11.49 points, or 1.16%, to stand at 1,005.35 units.

The South Korean stock market opened the day higher, spurred by the gains on Wall Street and the relaxation a day before the restrictions against the coronavirus in the country, which scored minimal daily infections after three months with record figures.

After strong rises in the US dollar last week and a stabilization of the exchange rate the previous day, the local currency rose today, closing at 1,178.7 won the change, 8.9 units more than the previous day.

The chip with the highest capitalization in the selective Kospi, the technology giant Samsung Electronics, gained 0.57%, while the world’s second largest memory chip manufacturer, SK hynix, gained 0.62%.

Naver, the company behind the main search engine in South Korea, in turn advanced 2.77%, and LG Chim, a leader in the manufacture of car batteries, also rose 0.48%.

In the biopharmaceutical sector, Samsung Biologics gained 1.27%.

For its part, Hyundai Motor, the largest South Korean vehicle manufacturer, fell 0.24% as well as SK Innovation, leader in the chemical sector, which lost 0.97%.
