A 27-year-old woman appeared in Northampton Crown Court for manslaughter by gross negligence on her baby, who was just 5 months old.


The verdict was delivered for Simone Perry almost a year after the fact. The 27-year-old Briton has been convicted of manslaughter by gross negligence on her 5-month-old child.

On January 27, 2019, this mother left the bathroom while her 5-month-old son was alone in the bathtub filled with 13 centimeters of water. When the latter returned after four minutes, the child lying in the water, his body lifeless. The victim, who had been positioned in a baby seat, slipped from the bath seat. The helpers arrived quickly on the scene could not do anything to save the child.

An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the drowning. The mother, who denied police using a phone, finally confessed to investigators that she left her baby alone in the bathroom to answer messages and make calls through the WhatsApp app.
