Sentence handed down to driver who caused fatal accident in Queens in 2018 – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – A driver, who was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and who caused a multi-car crash in 2018 that claimed the life of one man and injured others, was sentenced Friday to between six and 15 hours. years in prison.

Alex Elicier, 31, of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty in July to aggravated vehicular manslaughter and other charges stemming from the August 2018 crash that occurred on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens.

Prosecutors said Elicier was driving early in the morning when he crashed into the back of an Acura at more than 80 mph, sending him toward the railing and lifting him into the air before landing and being hit by another car.
