Senior medical students end their careers slowed by pandemic

To analyze the strategies that allow this step, the Minister of Public Health, Dra. Rossana Chahla, received the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Mateo Martínez, at the Siprosa facilities.

“We want students to complete their internship and thus finish their degree. In this way we will also have more doctors available in the health system. We are working in this direction and we see which are the best strategies, both for the students and for the Tucuman society. We have practically everything planned and we will continue to work together from day one. »Commented the minister.

For his part, Martínez thanked Dr. Chahla for receiving him and said that they have already agreed on all the steps so that the students can gradually and safely return to the training activity of the last period of their career. “I think it is a great effort on the part of the health system because it would be very easy to say no due to the overload it is subjected to by this pandemic. However, today’s dialogue has been productive, ”he said.

Finally, the dean explained how the students will resume their activities. “Next Monday we would start with the first group of students who will return to health services at the first level of outpatient care, so the risk is lower. A few weeks later they will return to common hospitalization services and a third time, weeks later, it will be to the referral hospitals; provided that epidemiological conditions allow it ”, he concluded.

The meeting was also attended by the executive medical secretary of Siprosa, a doctor Luis Medina Ruiz, and the academic secretary of the faculty, doctor Liliana Mónica Tefaha.
