Kota Semarang, Central Java was hit by flooding on Saturday (12/31), after the area was drenched in rain for nearly eight hours. Several major roads in Semarang were flooded.
Heavy rain that hit Semarang for nearly eight hours flooded most of the area. Not only residential areas, the floods have also inundated the main roads of the city of Semarang.
Hartono, a resident of Semarang city, said the floods started inundating the city at 0600 WIB.

“If it rains starting at 01:00 at night, the flood starts at 06:00 (am) knee-deep (height),” he said.
As for a number of protocol roads that were flooded, including Jalan Monsignor Sugiyopranoto, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Simpang Lima area and Jalan Pantura Mangkang Semarang-Kendal were also not spared from water submersion.
Additionally, the flood also inundated a number of residential areas in North Semarang, West Semarang, Ngaliyan and Tugu sub-districts.
Based on observations in the area of Tanah Mas, Jalan Taman Hasanudin, the water level has reached the waist of an adult.
Currently, the TNI/Polri and Basarnas Joint Team is on alert for reports of residents requesting evacuations if the flooding in their homes does not decrease or even increase with heavy rains.
