Invigorating! While everyone announced the Jaguars as the team that would harvest the season by giving pride of place to young people, Jacksonville has already silenced everyone by winning 27 to 20 against the Colts! A victory which necessarily bears the imprint of youth like an excellent Gardner Minshew (19/20, 173 yards, 3TDs) or even rookies CJ Henderson, K’Lavon Chaisson and Andrew Wingard, authors of a interception each (even if that of Chaisson was canceled).
The Colts believed in until the end with a 4th & 5th to play in the 30 yards of the Jaguars less than a minute from the end. But like several times this Sunday, Philip Rivers (36/46, 363 yards, 1TD, 2INT) was clumsy in the finish. A mixed first for the veteran in his new colors.
Yet it is the Colts who start hostilities first with a touchdown from Nyheim Hines (7 races, 28 yards, 1TD) on the first drive (0-7). The Colts will extend the stick to be beaten by accumulating a 4th failure and especially the first interception of Philip Rivers under his new colors. Behind this turnover, Gardner Minshew advances his own and connects with DJ Chark (3 rec, 25 yards, 1 TD) for the touchdown (7-7).
At the end of the first half, the two teams surrender blow for blow with two touchdowns in a row, the first from Rivers for Hines and the second for the evening from Minshew for Shenault (14-14). The Colts still manage to take a slight advantage before returning to the locker room by adding a field goal (14-17).
It is Minshew who switches the match 6 minutes from the end when he finds a Keelan Cole (5rec, 47 yards, 1TD) all alone in the end zone to allow his family to then lead 24 to 20. Behind, Jacksonville will hold up with an interception followed by a field goal (20-27) and a gap that the Colts will not fill.
