Seine-Saint-Denis wants to reduce inequalities in access to vaccines

Seine-Saint-Denis, which already manages two fixed vaccination centers, one in Noisy-le-Grand and one in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, deployed on Monday February 15 a new structure in Bobigny, in the premises of the Primary Fund health insurance (CPAM).

“Many people in Seine-Saint-Denis have difficulty accessing vaccination due to a lack of information because they are isolated, do not have access to the internet, or are far from institutional messages”, recalled Stéphane Troussel. , president of the departmental council, to justify the installation of this new equipment intended for the precarious seniors of the territory.

Bridge the digital divide

This unprecedented campaign, led by the National Health Insurance Fund, the Department and the Prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis, comes at a time that for several weeks, communities have observed that a significant portion of vaccinated patients come from other Ile-de-France departments. This can be explained in particular by the fact that the most mobile elderly are often those who are also the most comfortable with digital technology. However, many appointments are made online.

“The digital divide affects a large number of people in Seine-Saint-Denis. We cannot ask everyone to register on Doctolib to be vaccinated. We must put in place structures capable of reaching out to people, ”explains Pierre Laporte, vice-president of the departmental council in charge of Health, in the columns of the Parisian.

1,000 injections per week in March

To address these health inequalities revealed by the health crisis, where the excess mortality rate had reached 134% during the peak of the pandemic, Seine-Saint-Denis therefore favors the approach “to go to those furthest from the healthcare system. “.

The Department approaches senior beneficiaries of C2S, a complementary health insurance scheme paid to the most vulnerable, by telephone, to reserve doses for them as well as a means of transport to get to the vaccination center. If the structure of Bobigny, which comes in addition to the 17 vaccination centers in Seine-Saint-Denis, has already allowed the inoculation of 700 doses for its first week of activity, this figure should increase to 1,000 injections per week from March.

While the Department has put into service in Montreuil its “vaccination bus” which crisscrosses the territory to inform citizens and help the elderly without an appointment, its president hopes that acts of vaccination can be practiced there in a way. mobile. As is already the case with seasonal flu.
