After a year and a half of investigation, the Boers, the taxi and VTC police, have managed to dismantle a vast scam. According to information fromNews Seine-Saint-Denis, fraud at Urssaf is estimated at three million euros in this case. The police also seized nearly 100,000 euros in cash, 116,000 euros in gold and 300,000 euros in cryptocurrencies. It all starts with a simple check carried out by the taxi police, in February 2021, at Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
The agents ask a VTC driver to present his papers. However, they then discover that the company of which he claims to be an employee is run by a “straw manager” and that the driver is not declared, relate our colleagues. By continuing their investigations, the police then learn that the manager of the VTC company does not run one, but ten companies. Six in his name and four under that of a fictitious manager. Unsurprisingly, no declaration prior to hiring the drivers and no tax declarations were made by the contractor.

Five people arrested, most of the same family
The police also spot that large transfers are made to the accounts of relatives of the manager. The family “actively participates in concealed work” which constitutes fraud at Urssaf. During their investigation, the police observed French accounts from which large sums of money were transferred to accounts abroad or to cryptocurrency platforms. Result of this “meticulous investigation”: Tuesday, June 28, five people were arrested, most of the same family, and placed in police custody.
