As NASA rover and Mars Ingenuity helicopter work hard to explore Mars hundreds of millions of miles from Earth, their “twin” models will visit the museum as part of their “Persevering Roam” promotion. The size of a car, with a high “head” camera, the six-wheeled Perseverance towers the most visitors, while the Ingenuity’s flaws highlight just how small the history-making helicopter is. The tour begins in October at spots on the east and west coasts, then continues inland.
Since landing on Mars on February 18, 2021, Perseverance has been looking for signs of ancient microscopic life to collect and store samples of Martian rock and sediment for future missions planned for closer study on Earth. After delivering flights to Mars in the bowels of Perseverance, the Ingenuity helicopter has completed more than a dozen short flights, not only to demonstrate the possibility of powered controlled flight on Mars, but even to help explore potential locations for Perseverance Exploration.
In addition to spacecraft models, NASA scientists and engineers for diligence and creativity will give private and virtual talks and answer questions at various museums. The face-to-face event will include hands-on activities at three locations to coincide with the first anniversary of the Perseverance landing on Mars. Some of the exhibits will include digital screens with the latest video clips, images and sounds from the Martian surface to provide authentic samples of what the rover encountered while exploring the Red Planet. Other features of some museums are family-friendly science exhibits, such as small-scale plow models and tabletop displays, rock collections, spaceship materials, and an interactive portrait station.
All museums are members of NASA Alliance of Museums and Informal Education.

More about mission
The main objective of the Persevere on Mars mission is astrobiologyIncluding looking for signs of ancient microbial life. It will characterize the geological explorer of the planet and its past climate, pave the way for human exploration of the red planet, and will be the first mission to collect and store Martian rock and regolite (cracked rock and dust).
NASA’s next mission, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), will send a spacecraft to Mars to collect these sealed samples from the surface and return them to Earth for in-depth analysis.
The Mars 2020 Perseverance Mission is part of NASA’s moon-to-Mars exploration approach, which includes Artemis A mission to the moon will help prepare for human exploration of the red planet.
