SEDAPA updates the life insurance registry for fishermen

Almost a year after the current state administration, the Secretariat of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Agricultural Development (BIKE), finalized the updating of the registry of the Life Insurance Program for the Riverside Fishing Sectorwhich was made up of 2,038 sea workers, mentioned the head of the agency, José Alfredo Bermúdez Beltrán.

The state public servant recalled that through this program, The State Government grants solidarity support for up to one hundred thousand pesos in favor of the family of the producer who dies due to circumstances related or not to his productive activity.

In this sense, he reported that of the 2 thousand 038 beneficiaries, 116 are women, whom the State Government has supported, so that they can venture into this activity; Likewise, he referred that the municipality with the highest number of registered fishermen is Mulegé with 1,045 fishermen, followed by La Paz with 433; in Comondú 360 beneficiaries, Loreto 157 and Los Cabos 43.

He explained that the registered men and women are authentic fishermen and fisherwomen, after an in-depth study carried out by the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, cWith the purpose that citizens unrelated to this activity are not registered in the registryas detected at the beginning of the present state administration.

He stressed that the state governor, Victor Manuel Castro Cosiohas shown interest in dignifying the work of those who risk their lives at sea to provide for their families, who for years remained in oblivion; urged the fishing community to approach to request reports of the various programs that exist in the field of fishing.

Finally, he recalled that the South Californian president has promised to visit the fishing fields throughout this six-year term in order to listen to the needs and promote the sector: “Let no one be left behind”he highlighted.
