Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier opened the 56th edition of the Munich Security Conference on Friday. Until Sunday there are about 35 heads of state and government and almost 100 foreign and defense ministers in the city. As always, the luxury hotel Bayerischer Hof and the surrounding neighborhood in the old town will be transformed into a high-security area for the Munich Security Conference. Around 3,900 police officers are on duty around the clock, and there is also a flight ban over the city.
