East Java Newsroom- In order for the supply of industrial customers to be safe, PLN from the Main Transmission Unit for Eastern Java and Bali (UIT JBM) through the Transmission Implementing Unit (UPT) Surabaya carried out the replacement of 44 insulators.

General Manager of PLN UIT JBM, Suroso in Surabaya Monday (20/9/2021) said the replacement of the insulator was due to an insulator that did not work optimally, in the High Voltage Air Line (SUTT) due to corrosion.

He said, this work was carried out within 8 hours, the PLN UPT Surabaya Work Under Voltage Team (PDKB) replaced the insulator by deploying 10 personnel at Tower 06 SUTT 150 kV Karangpilang – Rungkut Surabaya.

Suroso said that the Karang Pilang – Rungkut area is a dense area of industrial customers, so PLN seeks to minimize the potential for disruption of electricity supply to potential customers who use PLN’s electricity services, for the continuity of industrial activities. “Currently, industrial production activities have returned to normal, so supply to industrial areas must be maintained,” he said.

One of them is the industrial area in Rungkut and its surroundings with approximately 370 industrial customers supplied from the Rungkut GI. PLN tries to maintain the quality of electricity supply to the area, one of which is by doing work (replacing the insulator) without going out.

“Replacing the insulator requires quick handling, because it can have a big impact, such as breaking the insulator circuit so that the conductor (cable) falls. This causes the reliability of the system and the continuity of electricity distribution to customers to be disrupted,” he added.

Suroso further stated that the rapid handling carried out by the PDKB Team is a form of PLN’s commitment to supporting the running of the industry as an economic movement. Not only that, by carrying out work without going out, PLN managed to save power.

“With this work, PLN can ensure that the transmission network in distributing electrical energy remains reliable. So as not to cause significant disruption to the movement of industrial activities. We also saved approximately 53 MW by doing work without going out,” he explained.

In every work implementation, PLN ensures that the entire team maintains and prioritizes Occupational Health and Safety (K3). The dexterity in this improvement effort shows the readiness of the Surabaya UPT installation to ensure customer satisfaction with the quality of service provided by PLN. (hjr)
