Reported by the news agency ReutersOn Wednesday (25/1/2023), Pence’s representative, Greg Jacob, has sent a letter to the National Archives informing them of the document. In a separate letter, Pence’s representatives said the FBI came to the former vice president’s home to retrieve the documents.
The discovery came after classified documents were also found in the home of his former boss, former President Donald Trump and the President Joe Biden some time ago.
Jacob said in a January 18 letter to the National Archives that “out of an abundance of caution” Pence had engaged outside advisers to review documents held at his home following reports of secret document found at the Biden residence.
“Advisors identified a small number of documents containing potentially sensitive or confidential information scattered throughout the records,” Jacob wrote in the letter.
“Vice President Pence immediately secured the documents in a locked safe pending further instructions on the proper handling of the National Archives,” he said.
In a separate letter dated January 22, Jacob said the Justice Department “used standard procedure and sought direct possession” of documents at the Pence residence.
With the former US vice president’s approval, FBI agents came to his Indiana home at 9:30 p.m. local time on January 19 to retrieve documents kept in the safe.
