Second World War grenade found in Twente for the second day in a row | NOW

A World War II grenade has been found again in Twente. A fifteen-year-old boy found the projectile on Saturday while he was magnet fishing in Enschede. On Friday afternoon, a dangerous war grenade was also found in De Lutte in Overijssel.

After the boy took the grenade up on the Oude Deventerweg on Saturday afternoon, he immediately called the police. The Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) was then called in.

The missile, which is armed, has been taken to a safe place and will be destroyed by the EOD. Whether the boy gets his magnet back, which is still attached to the projectile, depends on a police spokesperson for the EOD.

On Friday afternoon, a man also found a war grenade that was on fire, at a bench on the Duivendalweg in De Lutte. The man had called the police after the find, but when officers came to look, the grenade was gone.

A couple of hikers from Enschede had the life-threatening projectile taken home. The EOD then arrived on the scene and defused the explosive in a safe place.
