Second Assemblyman Ricardo Vanegas to donate 50% of his salary towards earthquake victim’s aid | Politics | News

Villavicencio, on Sunday March 19, through Twitter, began with the initiative to donate the salary to help the victims.

“I have formalized the donation of 50% of my salary corresponding to the current month in favor of the victims of the earthquake. I hope that the majority of assembly members will join this initiative. Let’s be 137 in solidarity,” said the legislator.

In the document that accompanied the publication, he asked the president of the National Assembly, Virgilio Saquicela, to give the corresponding permission to authorize the General Financial Coordination of the Legislative Branch that 50% of his salary for the current month “be deducted and delivered to the official accounts” for the repair of the damages.

The contribution for the victims of the earthquake could be analyzed in plenary. It was learned that there would be requests already presented by legislators to change the agenda in session 857, on Tuesday, March 21, scheduled for 3:00 p.m., in which the draft reforms to the Organic Code of the Judicial Function will be processed in the first debate. .

Currently the salary of each of the 137 assembly members is $4,759, which means that they would donate $2,379.50.
