A second woman said she was raped in 2005 by Harvey Weinstein on the sixth day of the film producer’s trial. His testimony comes after that last Thursday of actress Annabella Sciorra.
Waitress at the time, Tarale Wulff explained that she had met the co-founder of the production company Miramax in the New York bar-restaurant where she worked. From the first meeting, he would have grabbed her by the arm, before taking her to a dark room and then masturbating in front of her. She says she ran away.
According to her, the Weinstein Company, Harvey Weinstein’s new production house, contacted her for a casting a few weeks later. She said that she was eventually taken to the home of the powerful Hollywood decision maker by car, then drawn to a bedroom by Harvey Weinstein, who pushed her onto a bed. She said she said, ‘I can’t’.
“He told me: don’t worry, I can’t have children,” she said.
Other lawsuits
Neither this alleged rape nor that of Annabella Sciorra was prosecuted during the New York trial. In this context, Harvey Weinstein is accused of having sexually assaulted Mimi Haleyi, who testified on Monday, and of having raped, in 2013, Jessica Mann, who will be called later in the trial.
During cross-examination of Tarale Wulff, defense counsel Donna Rotunno noted that the witness changed the date of her meeting with the accused from 2004 to 2005, very late in the proceedings and only a few months before the trial.
She also pointed out that the aspiring actress had voluntarily gone to Harvey Weinstein’s house and had left the apartment to return, still without constraint, in her company to the offices of the Weinstein Company after the alleged rape.
