Switzerland will soon be part of one of the most powerful bodies in the world: at the beginning of June, it was elected to the UN Security Council. This means that our country will have a say in world peace from next year. Switzerland is prepared for this, as an important voice now says. “She is ready for this moment and will be a great addition,” said the US ambassador in Bern, Scott Miller, in an interview with the “SonntagsBlick”.
In his eyes, Switzerland can represent its values in the UN body – for example in humanitarian issues. And doing what she does best: convening and moderating difficult discussions. “Your perspective will be invaluable – with regard to Ukraine, but also in view of the ongoing humanitarian problems that exist around the world,” Miller praised Switzerland.
