In Ostend, a search was carried out on Friday evening for a missing swimmer. The 26-year-old woman went swimming in the sea at ‘t Klein Strand at about 6 pm.

More than half an hour later, her boyfriend had still not seen her again. He notified the emergency services and they started a search. The NH90 helicopter was rounded up and several lifeboats also went looking for the woman.
The lady was known as a good swimmer, but they didn’t want to take any chances. Eventually, a local police officer found her on the beach just after 7 p.m. She was in good health and didn’t know people were looking for her. The search could therefore be stopped half an hour after it was started.
