Derry/Londonderry, northern ⁤Ireland – The First Minister⁢ and deputy First Minister have jointly ​welcomed a ample £115 million investment by seagate ‌Technology Holdings into its manufacturing plant in Derry/Londonderry. ⁢The investment, spread over five years, is earmarked for the development of cutting-edge hard drive ⁣technology.

This important financial commitment is expected to solidify Seagate’s‌ North West facility’s position as a global leader in research and development (R&D) engineering, specifically in the field of nanophotonics. Crucially, the investment will also lead to the creation of new employment opportunities within ⁣the region.

During a visit ⁤to the Seagate site to formally announce the investment, ⁤First Minister Michelle O’Neill emphasized the company’s long-standing⁢ contribution to ‌the local economy. “As establishing operations in‌ Derry in⁣ 1993, Seagate has evolved into a⁣ world-class manufacturing facility and remains one of ⁤the largest employers ⁤in the area,” ⁢she‌ stated. ⁣”The company consistently ​provides high-quality⁢ jobs and ‍valuable career ⁤pathways for local residents, injecting millions of pounds into our economy annually.”
