Sea Stable, Research Results Ask Earthlings to Be Alert

JAKARTAClimate changemake the earth warmer. It is not only the land that feels the changes, the oceans also respond to these changes. This also makes seawater stable, this is very disturbing the marine ecosystem to become more sensitive to changes in temperature.

As written in the Journal of Oceans 21 regarding the state of the world’s oceans ahead of the UN climate conference, in the latest study, from the analysis of millions of samples, it is revealed that over the past 5 decades, the stability of the oceans has increased six times faster than scientists anticipated.

The stability of the oceans is an important regulator for global climate and productivity of marine ecosystems which are a source of food for humans in the world.

It controls how heat, carbon, nutrients, and dissolved gases move between the upper and lower layers of the ocean.

So while a more stable sea may sound like a joy, it’s actually less pleasant in reality.

This could mean that the top layer absorbs more heat, stores no nutrients, which has a huge impact on life and the climate of the oceans.

Global warming is caused by human activities that produce heat and carbon dioxide. So that in the past century, the increase in global temperature has an average of 1 degree Fahrenheit, or the equivalent of 0.6 degrees Celsius.

In the oceans this change causes an increase in water temperature by about 0.18 degrees Fahrenheit or 0.1 degrees Celsius.

This warming is also occurring from the surface to a depth of 2300 feet (700 meters), where marine life is most fertile in the area.

The marine organisms that are most susceptible to changes in sea water temperature are corals. This is evidence that reefs will turn white even if the temperature changes only slightly. Bleaching of coral reefs or bleaching will slow down growth, making them susceptible to disease and causing death on a large scale.

Sea surface temperatures cool the farther it is from the equator and the closer to the poles. This is a simple point, but it has big implications.

Temperature, together with salinity and pressure, controls the density of seawater. This means that the sea level becomes denser as it moves away from the tropics. ALSO READ – PS5 Print History, So Console With the Fastest Selling in the US
