Screening ‘Wan Pipel’ in Filmhuis The Hague with special guest Jan Pronk

On the occasion of 45 years of independence from Suriname, Filmhuis Den Haag will screen the Surinamese film ‘Wan Pipel’ on Wednesday 25 November, with former minister Jan Pronk as a special guest.

Jan Pronk is interviewed by Ananta Khemradj about his latest book Suriname from province to nation state. In this book, Pronk gives an account of the nearly thirty years in which he was closely involved (often as a minister, sometimes as a Member of Parliament) in Dutch policy on Suriname.

This interview will be streamed live. In the last chapter Jan Pronk also writes about the film Wan Pipel by Pim de la Parra which will be screened afterwards. Wan Pipel will be shown in the filmhuis until the end of December and on PICL from 25 November.
