Brian Brobbey ensures that more goals from him will follow after his first goal for Ajax. The eighteen-year-old striker scored on Saturday in his debut against Fortuna Sittard and thus had a share in the 5-2 victory over the Limburgers.
“I am very happy of course,” said a beaming Brobbey FOX Sports. The striker came in for Lassina Traoré in the 66th minute and scored the 3-1 eight minutes later. He was hit by the ball after David Neres fired on the inside of the post.
“I was at the far post and had the feeling that the ball was going to get there and then it got there,” said Brobbey. “I was even shocked by the ball. It is certainly not my most beautiful, but these also count. This is just the beginning and I hope there will be more.”
Brobbey admitted that he had to wait a long time for his chance in the main force of trainer Erik ten Hag. So far he only played at Jong Ajax, where he is the club’s top scorer with five goals. “The trainer told me that I have to work on my condition, then my chance would come naturally. I trained harder, also in the gym.”
The eighteen-year-old Brobbey also assured that he will sign a new agreement with Ajax. The contract of the striker, who has Mino Raiola as agent, expires at the end of the current season. “Of course I want to stay with Ajax, so that will be fine. I’m close to a signature anyway, I didn’t need this goal for that.”

Ten Hag: ‘He still needs a lot of work for CL level’
Trainer Ten Hag acknowledged that he had waited a long time to bring Brobbey. “Last season he went from one injury to the other. This season we have carefully built him up.
