The son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher Mick will continue to race for the Haas team next season. Russian Nikita Mazepin will remain the second driver of the American team. The Haas leadership announced this before the weekend Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. The 22-year-old pilots have not scored in their rookie season yet.

“It’s a challenging season with the technology we have. But they both took up the challenge and worked with the team to learn how Formula 1 works and adapt. Towards the next season, we’re confident we can move on and to give Mick and Nikita a competitive car so they can take the next step in F1, “said team boss Günther Steiner in a statement.
Schumacher is doing slightly better so far. Last year’s Formula 2 champion finished twelfth in the Hungarian Grand Prix. “I live my dream by being in Formula 1,” he said. “We will be stronger next year,” said Mazepin, whose father Dmitry is a billionaire and the owner of the Haas-sponsored company Uralkali.
