Schumacher: “Verstappen has no chance for the world title”

While Max Verstappen travels to the penultimate Formula 1 Grand Prix of the year with an eight-point lead, and on paper should therefore be second once he wins the other race, many think that Lewis Hamilton is the big favorite for the world title.

Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher is also convinced that the Dutchman no longer has a chance at the world title, he says in conversation with the German Sky Sports. “Mercedes currently has the more stable package.”

“Max gives everything and shows how good he is,” continues Michael Schumacher’s younger brother, who attributes the favorite role to Hamilton. “Under normal circumstances, however, he has no chance for the world title,” he judges.

Little luck for Verstappen

While Lewis Hamilton has been spared unfortunate moments at the hands of others or external factors this year, Max Verstappen, for example, had to swallow points in Azerbaijan and Hungary when he suffered a flat tire and was knocked off the track by Valtteri Bottas.

According to Schumacher, the Red Bull driver does not really have luck on his side this year. “Perhaps he lacks a bit of luck this year. If he had had that a little more at the start of the championship, he might have been champion by now,” said Ralf.
