Mainz (dpa / lrs) – Due to the corona pandemic, 245 of 1590 schools in Rhineland-Palatinate are currently partially closed. This means that individual class groups and their teachers are in quarantine, as can be seen from an overview from the Ministry of Education (as of Thursday). No school in the state is currently completely closed. There are currently 1162 cases of infection among the total of 521,000 students; for a total of 41,000 teachers, this number is 138.

All pupils at secondary schools in Rhineland-Palatinate must always wear a mask. According to the ministry, the mask requirement does not apply to elementary schools, the primary level of special schools and special schools with a special focus on health and / or motor development. In total, the mask requirement affects around 373,000 pupils.
