Schools – Freiburg im Breisgau – indoor swimming pools also close for school lessons – education

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Although the nationwide Corona regulation allows swimming lessons to be opened, the city of Freiburg has completely closed its indoor pools. “School swimming in Freiburg will be canceled until the end of November,” said a city spokesman on Wednesday. It is a precautionary measure.

From the point of view of the Freiburg Education Authority, the current infection rate is highly dynamic. According to the city, bus trips to school swimming and changing clothes are particularly exposed situations in which infections with the coronavirus can occur. The “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” had previously reported.

Since November 2nd, swimming pools have to remain closed to the public. School swimming is permitted. However, it is not only the risk of infection that plays a role in partial opening. Without customers, the bathrooms lack income.

The city of Aalen (Ostalbkreis) has now promised the local public utilities additional financial support for operation in November, as a public utility spokesman announced on Wednesday. Last week, the Aalen indoor swimming pool and a teaching pool were also closed for school lessons. The speaker did not give reasons. School sports have been allowed there again since Monday.

The Baden-Württemberg City Council does not know how many baths across the country keep their doors closed for students and teachers. “Financially, a bathroom is always a subsidy business,” says Head of Department Norbert Brugger. During the Corona crisis, the workload was lower, the staffing level thinner and the cleaning effort increased. Even before the pandemic, swimming lessons in the southwest fell victim to a lack of staff and dwindling bathing areas. According to Brugger, the greatest number of failures occurs in southern Baden.
