Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The announced state program for mobile air filter devices at schools and sports halls in North Rhine-Westphalia will be available shortly. Up to 100 percent, but a maximum of 4,000 euros per device, would be funded, said NRW Building Minister Ina Scharrenbach (CDU) on Wednesday in Düsseldorf.
The state is providing a total of 50 million euros. The money is mainly for classrooms that cannot be adequately ventilated either through windows or with the appropriate technology. Scharrenbach reported that 73 cities reported this for individual classrooms that were currently not being used. 315 municipalities, on the other hand, stated that all of their classrooms could be intensively ventilated.
The minister said that simple structural repair or conversion measures on school windows and corresponding measures in sports halls could also be funded. The authority is currently working on a low-bureaucratic online application that should be activated by the district governments this month.
