Scholz named the probable reason for Putin’s absence at the G20 summit

According to Scholz, “it would be good” if President Putin went to the G20 summit. However, Putin’s absence, the chancellor is convinced, will not prevent other countries from criticizing the war of aggression unleashed by Russia and inviting the Russian Federation to withdraw its troops from Ukraine, creating the conditions for peace talks.

Putin’s reluctance to personally discuss the “uncomfortable” topic of war in Ukraine at the Indonesian summit prompted Scholz’s disapproval. He stated that the Russian leader will have to face “all the questions and all the criticisms” formulated by many countries of the world. The chancellor suggested that “that’s probably why” Putin will not be at the G20 meeting.
